Games This Week

The flag teams will be playing at Barre City Elementary this week at 10:00am. Please have the players at the field by 9:30am. There will be no concessions.

The 5/6 and 7/8 teams will be playing in Newport. The directions are below. Here are the game times:

5:00pm – 5/6@Newport – arrive by 4:00pm

6:00pm - 7/8varsity@Newport – arrive by 5:00pm

8:30pm - 7/8jv @Newport – arrive by 7:30pm

Directions to Newport

1. Take the 1st right onto VT-14 N/E Montpelier Rd Continue to follow VT-14 N

2. Turn right onto US-2 E/VT-14 N

3. Take the 1st right onto US-2 E

4. Take the ramp to Newport

5. Merge onto I-91 N

6. Take exit 27 toward US-5/VT-105

7. Merge onto VT-191 N/Schuler Rd Continue to follow VT-191 N

8. Turn right onto US-5 N/VT-105 E

9. Continue onto Union St

10. Turn left onto Landing St

11. Take the 1st right onto Park Ave

12. Turn right onto Veterans Ave

Park n’ Ride

If your team is driving to Newport this week PLEASE meet at the corner of the Soups n Greens parking lot (by the BOR sign) at the below times. If you know your child will need a ride to the game place be sure the coach knows so that he can ensure they get one. Even if you do not need a ride others may need one. You are NOT responsible for the player for the day. S/he may just need a ride to get to the game:

2:30pm – 5/6@Newport – arrive by 4:00pm

3:30pm - 7/8jv@Newport – arrive by 5:00pm

6:00pm - 7/8varsity @Newport – arrive by 7:30pm

(The 7/8 varsity coaches will already be at the field for the JV game but other parents may ride share).

Equipment

It is a LONG way to Newport. Please double check your equipment (especially cleats) before leaving your house. We do not bring extras. If you don’t have your equipment, you can play.

Next Week

Next week flag is playing “under the lights” in Essex at 6:00pm. The varsity teams will be playing our “rivalry” team for the rivalry trophy at Central Vermont (U32). We currently hold the trophy… let’s keep it! The 7/8 JV will play Newport at the Barre City Elementary School.

ZERO TOLERANCE RULE

At no time may parents, coaches or players act inappropriately at games or practices. Upon the first occurrence a warning will be given by a board member. Upon the second occurrence the offender must leave the field until the game or practice is over. If this occurs again within the season, the board may vote not to allow the offender to return to the field for a period of time.

BYSA Football Board of Directors

We will have some openings on the board for next year and we would love to mentor people so there is a smooth transition. If anyone is interested in the presidency now is the time to begin mentoring. If anyone is interested in getting onto the Board of Directors PLEASE contact Kerri Lamb at 595-2968.

Coach’s Contacts

If your child will not be attending a practice or a game they must contact their coach to let him know. This is more important in this sport than others. The coach’s phone numbers are on the website and will appear on each newsletter. Below you will find the contact numbers for the coaches.

Photographer

The photographer took most of the pictures at the jamboree. However, she will be coming back to get a 7/8 group picture and she can do some more individuals if your player has not gotten theirs done. She can be reached at (802) 310-7858 for more information.
