7/8 JV Game cancelled
It
has been a week of ups and downs for this game! Initially the Essex coaches had
a miscommunication, then we thought we had worked
things out but the only time they could get their field was just too early in
the evening for everyone to get all the way to Essex on a weeknight.
The
7/8 JV team will need to take a bye week this week. This means there WILL BE practice on Friday night for 7/8.
Games This Week
The
varsity and the flag teams will be playing in Fairfax this week. The directions

should talk to their coach BEFORE Saturday.

The below are issues we discussed at
the parent meeting Tuesday
BYSA Football Board of
Directors
We
may have found someone willing to become the president that is currently on the
executive board. However, we will need at least two people to come onto the
board to continue the process. We also need anyone that is interested in
becoming a coordinator or coach for next year to contact Kerri at (518)
250-8736.
Each
year we need the following coordinators:
·
Apparel
Coordinator
·
Camp
Director
·
Concession
Coordinator
·
Equipment
Coordinator
·
Field,
Officials & Medic Coordinator
·
Fund
Raising Coordinator
·
Registration
Coordinator
·
Special
Events & Parade Coordinator
It would also be great to have a cheerleader
coordinator if anyone is interested. Kerri would be glad to give you a list of
responsibilities for any of these positions if it would help make a decision to
volunteer.
5th – 8th
Grade Parents
We
are currently under scrutiny of the league. We (and other teams in the league)
have had some issues with officials. ALL parents must stay back 15’ from the
field and only head coaches can
speak to or AT officials. The officials (we must use high school officials for
varsity league games) have been told by the league to begin giving out 15 yard
unsportsmanlike penalties if this is violated. We encourage positive cheering
at all times. The players LOVE to hear the cheers of the crowd!
8th Grade
Parents
Fairfax has a great tradition for
their last home game (this Saturday is their last home game). They will be
having a ceremony at our 7/8 varsity game for 8th graders and recognizing the
parents. They asked us to participate with our 8th graders also. If you have
the opportunity, please attend.
LET THE RETURNS BEGIN!!!
So the equipment return process is
beginning… The flag players should return their equipment on October 15th
from 1:00 until 3:00 to Mel’s house - 830 East Barre
Road. Her house is on the left driving out of Barre
just before Rowlands on Rte 302.
Please make sure all equipment is clean and uniforms washed
(no game jerseys in the dryer). If the helmets or shoulder pads are muddy hose
them out before they are returned. PLEASE remove your mouth guard. Remember to
bring both belts.
Do not plan to bring equipment to
the end of year banquet. Please return the complete set on the date given.
Deposits will not be returned to people bring equipment to the banquet (or
later).
End of Year Banquet
The banquet will be held on November 8th at the
Canadian Club. The tickets are available now through November 5th by
any board member, at the shed during practices or at concessions during home
games.
Every player gets a trophy at the
banquet. Please try to attend and bring family members. It is important to
recognize the players, coaches and all of those it takes to run this program.
Please bring a dessert to share. The
dinner will be chicken and pasta.

Dogs and Smoking
PLEASE DO NOT bring your dog to practices and games (home or away). Dogs
get into fights (even very nice dogs) and/or get irritated and bite little
kids. They also leave packages that wouldn’t be very nice to be tackled into.
Also,
if you are smoking outside, please stand away from others. We have received
complaints from children with asthma or other issues that can’t be around
smoking. Reminder: there is no smoking on school grounds.
Do you sew?
Melanie
Moore, a football mom at heart, has purchased the necessary material to make
football hand warmers for the players on these cold fall days. If you are
willing to help sew these please let us know by emailing barrefootball@usa.com. This could be a
nice activity while sitting by the field during practice!
