7/8 JV Game cancelled

This is starting to sound like a broken record. We started the last newsletter with the same headline. I am VERY sorry. Burlington has notified me on Monday that they will not have enough kids to play a JV game. I asked every 7/8 coach in the league if we could play their JV (or even some varsity teams) on Saturday or Sunday this week and there is no one able to play. We really hate to end their season like this but we have no choice. Coach Bob will talked to the kids tonight.

Games This Week

The varsity teams will be playing at home this week. Both teams will be playing St. Johnsbury. Invite your family and friends to attend! It'll be a great day for football. The last game of the year for 5th/8th grade and the last regular season game for the 7th/8th. Cheer them on to hopefully finish their season undefeated!

Saturday:

5th/6th Grade – 8:00am kick off

7th/8th Grade Varsity – 9:30am kick off (arrive by 8:30)

9:30 am game  7/8 Varsity

End of Year Banquet

The banquet will be held on November 8th at the Canadian Club. We will have a social time that begins at 5:30 and dinner begins at 6:30. The tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults. The tickets are available now through November 5th by any board member, at the shed during practices or at concessions during home games.

Every player gets a trophy at the banquet. Please try to attend and bring family members. It is important to recognize the players, coaches and all of those it takes to run this program.

Please bring a dessert to share. The dinner will be chicken and pasta.

EQUIPMENT RETURNS

The flag players should return their equipment on October 15th from 1:00 until 3:00 to Mel’s house - 830 East Barre Road. Her house is on the left driving out of Barre just before Rolands on Rte 302.

The 5/6 and 7/8 JV can return their equipment on Saturday, October 22 from 1:00 until 3:00 to Mel's house.

Please make sure all equipment is clean and uniforms washed (no game jerseys in the dryer). If the helmets or shoulder pads are muddy hose them out before they are returned. PLEASE remove your mouth guard. Remember to bring both belts.

Do not plan to bring equipment to the end of year banquet. Please return the complete set on the date given. Deposits will not be returned to people bring equipment to the banquet (or later).

BYSA Football Board of Directors

We may have found someone willing to become the president that is currently on the executive board. However, we will need at least two people to come onto the board to continue the process. We also need anyone that is interested in becoming a coordinator or coach for next year to contact Kerri at (518) 250-8736.

Each year we need the following coordinators:

·        Apparel Coordinator

·        Camp Director

·        Concession Coordinator

·        Equipment Coordinator

·        Field, Officials & Medic Coordinator

·        Fund Raising Coordinator

·        Registration Coordinator

·        Special Events & Parade Coordinator

·        Game Schedule Coordinator

It would also be great to have a cheerleader coordinator if anyone is interested. Kerri would be glad to give you a list of responsibilities for any of these positions if it would help make a decision to volunteer.
